Viral gastroenteritis

COLONIAL HEIGHTS, VA (WWBT) - Dr. John Clay is treating viral gastroenteritis at Primary Health Group - Appomattox.

Symptoms of viral gastroenteritis include profuse vomiting and diarrhea. It can be accompanied by fevers, chills, body aches, and stomach cramps.

Drink plenty of fluids such as pedialyte (works great for adults and kids) to help replenish electrolytes. Acetaminophen and ibuprofen helps with fever and aches.   Most cases last only a few days.

If you have signs of dehydration such as dizziness upon standing, uncontrollable fever, or severe abdominal discomfort see you doctor.
