CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) - We have had the benefit of a mild autumn, but the warm weather won't stick around forever.
That means things will get colder and as you work to stay warm there are things that could threaten your safety.
Dr. David Boyd is helping his patients with burns at Family Practice Specialists of Richmond.
With fireplaces, space heaters and Christmas lights all being heated up, that can lead to opportunities to get burns.
Initial treatment of minor burns includes cooling (with room temperature water, not with ice), simple gentle cleansing with mild soap and water, and appropriate dressing.
Follow-up care includes looking for scars and other problems. Check in with your doctor to assess the injury and change the dressing change.
