Finals Set for Times Dispatch Invitational Tournament

Ashland, VA (WWBT)- Only two basketball teams are left standing in both the boys and girls brackets of the Times Dispatch Invitational Tournament.  The semifinals were held on Saturday to determine who would battle for the title on Monday at the Siegel Center.

On the boys side, Henrico and John Marshall both remained unbeaten with respective semifinal wins.  The Warriors earned a victory over Thomas Jefferson, which was fresh off an upset win over L.C. Bird.  Henrico held off a late Vikings charge and hit its free throws down the stretch to come away with the win, improving to 7-0 on the season.  Marshall, meanwhile, took down Cosby, 79-66, to move on and set up a date of unbeatens in Monday's championship game.  The Justices are 8-0 on the year.

Girls action saw St. Catherine's top Monacan in overtime, 60-48.  The Chiefs held and early eight point lead, but the Saints went on an 8-0 run to tie the game at the end of the first half to keep Monacan from pulling away.  They'll face Cosby in the finals, which topped Varina, 52-45 on Saturday afternoon.
