Hopewell Police hunting fugitive Ferlando Monroe

HOPEWELL, VA (WWBT) – It is Fugitive Friday and today's featured fugitive is wanted by the Hopewell Police Department for probation violation on an original charge of felonious assault.

Back in 2006 police say this Hopewell residence was a hot late night party spot. It was at one of those parties that Ferlando Monroe found himself in the middle of a brawl.

"You'll see right behind me where a verbal altercation turned physical and a bottle was used as a weapon to strike the victim on top of his head," said Officer Robert Stamper, Hopewell Police Department.

Monroe's bottle wielding got him convicted for felonious assault and he was released on probation back in 2007. Ferlando met all the requirements of his probation until recently when he stopped reporting to his probation officer.

"It is not unheard of, especially around the holidays decide that they want to do what they want rather than adhere to what they've been instructed to do," Stamper said.

His last known address was at 1000 Sunnyside Avenue, Apartment B.

"His last known work was in McDonald's in Petersburg back in '08," Stamper told us.

Police say there is a chance he may still be in the tri-cities area.

"He could have family in the area that could keep him around here that may be assisting," Stamper added.

Police need your help in getting Ferlando Monroe off the streets.

"If they see him, know him, do the right thing for the victim. If it was their brother or their son they would want somebody to do the right thing and turn themselves in or to help get this person caught," said Stamper.
