Stolen baby Jesus returned to nativity

FREDERICKSBURG, VA (WWBT) - Thursday evening Fredericksburg Police detectives recovered the figure of the baby Jesus which had been stolen from the Central Park shopping center Tuesday night.

A citizen provided vital information to police which led to the identification of the primary suspect in the case. The suspect, a 25-year-old female from Spotsylvania County, had uploaded a picture of the stolen statue on her Facebook page.

The concerned citizen printed the image before the Facebook post was removed. The citizen immediately turned over the evidence to the Fredericksburg Police Department. The subsequent investigation led to a home in Spotsylvania County, where the baby Jesus statue was found.

Arrangements are being made today to return the statue to the nativity at Central Park. Charges are pending, and it is likely that at least one additional suspect was involved in this incident. The investigation is ongoing.
