Dinwiddie family escapes, unharmed from house fire

DINWIDDIE, VA (WWBT) - A Dinwiddie County family is safe after a massive fire gutted their home early Sunday morning.

Dinwiddie Fire & EMS tell us it happened just after 1:30 a.m. in the 5000 block of Olgers Road. It took crews a little over two hours to get the flames under control.

The fire was initially discovered and reported by one of the people living in the two-story home. The family inside was able to escape, unharmed.

We're told the home is a total loss and the family is currently being assisted by friends and family.

The fire's cause remains under investigation at this time.
