19th Annual Parade of Lights on James River canceled

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - The 19th Annual Parade of Lights on the James River has been canceled due to high water and debris in the river.

It's the first time in the parade's history that the event has been canceled. There will be no make-up date.

Organizers promise next year will be bigger than ever.

Some events and activities associated with JRAC's Parade of Lights will be held as planned. The Varina Toy Parade in Henrico County will be held at 3 p.m., with festive holiday entertainment following at Osborne Park and Boat Landing.

Activities at Henricus Historical Park in Chesterfield County also will take place, including Colonial Christmas, 1-8 p.m., and the Holiday Patron Reception, 5-8 p.m.
