CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) -A group of teenagers has been arrested and charged in a string of tire slashings.
19-year old Danny Bucy, 19-year-old Javon Anthony, 19-year-old Tiffany Berry , along with a 17-year-old male and a 16-year-old female are charged with the crimes.
" Across these incidents we have some that are present for one -- others are present for the other crimes. It was a combination of all of the individuals," said Sgt. David Higgings.
The crimes happened last month in the Stony Glen, Ashley Forest, and Chester Village Green subdivisions in Chesterfield.
The damage totals more than $32,000 in property damage.
Berry faces 3 charges including conspiracy to commit a felony.
Anthony faces 14 charges.
Bucy faces 27 charges including felony vandalism.
Bucy and Anthony are also facing similar charges in Colonial Heights -- where 25 tires were slashed in the area of Maple Grove and Farris Avenues last month
Police say the group randomly picked neighborhoods, walked up and down the street with knife in hand and stabbed tires.
Anonymous tips helped investigators crack the case.
"It's the general public that does the most to help us solve these. Without that involvement it would have been difficult to start going in the right direction as quickly, said Higgins.
During the course of the tire slashing investigation police say Bucy and Anthony were linked to a home burglary.
The two men are behind bars.
The other three are out of jail on bond.
The three adults charged in the case are scheduled to appear in court in February.
