Police looking for two men that held child hostage during robbery

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Richmond police need your help finding two men that took a child hostage and shot the father in a robbery.

It happened in the 3700 block of Angela Drive on the city's southside Monday evening.  A couple with their young children returned home and found two men burglarizing their home.

One of the men, armed with a shotgun, took one of the children hostage and demanded money.  The father of the child struck the armed man with a hammer in the face and head before being shot in the chest by the other man.

The father has been hospitalized in stable condition.

The suspects got away.  Police believe the injuries to the man's head would require medical attention.  They are considered armed and dangerous.
