School bus driver charged after bus hits woman

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) – A school bus driver has been charged with failure to yield following an accident in downtown Richmond.

Police won't release the name of the driver.

A woman was attempting to cross the street with her husband when the school bus struck her in the intersection of  N. 3rd and E. Leigh streets, according to police.

It happened just after 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Police say the woman was not seriously injured, but both pedestrians were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. They were treated and released.

Six children were on the bus at the time of the accident. None were injured.

Police say the school bus was on the way to the Amelia Street School. Another bus came to pick up the children after the accident.
