HENRICO, VA (WWBT) - The woman driving the SUV that struck and killed a Highland Springs High School student will not face any charges.
After consulting with the Commonwealth's Attorney's Office, Henrico police said the driver did not break the law since the victim, D'Shawn Lewis, did not cross the road at an intersection or marked crosswalk.
Lewis, 17, was trying to cross Nine Mile Road when he was hit the night of November 30.
He was wearing dark clothing and the driver of the SUV could not stop in time, according to police.
Lewis died at the scene.
He played on the football team at Highland Springs High School.
