Carytown Kroger temporarily evacuated for gas leak

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT ) – Late Sunday morning, Richmond Fire crews responded to the Kroger grocery store in Carytown for a report of a gas leak.

The call came in just before 12:00 p.m. for the Kroger at 3507 W. Cary Street.

Customers and employees were evacuated as a safety precaution.

The leak was reportedly coming from a grill in the meat department.

Richmond Fire tells NBC12 that crews were able to quickly get the situation under control by securing the leak and venting the building.
