RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Lace up your skate shoes - RVA on Ice is back for the second year. After delaying the opening twice already, weather has permitted the rink to safely open to the public Thursday night!
The ladies of the Richmond Raiders and Nutsy the Squirrel led the first group of skaters onto the ice. There were a few falls but a lot of laughter and fun.
One family skating for the very first time shared with us their excitement moments before hitting the ice.
"Evidently the first year was good for them to come back and do it again and hopefully we all will be able to ice skate, but I don't know because I'm kind of scared," said first time skater Tonya Foreman.
The ice rink is now open and will stay open thru the new year.
It's located on East Broad Street between 6th and 7th Streets. It's $5 to get in and $5 to rent skates - $3 for kids. You can even enjoy making smores by the fire pit they have set up next to the rink.
