Family uninjured after Chester home is shot-up

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Right now police are looking for the shooter. It happened just before 1:00a.m. on the one this morning at a house in the 1400 block of Cameron avenue.

Many of those bullets went right through the couple's bedroom window. Neighbors say the Chester neighborhood in quiet. They say they can't believe someone actually shot several bullets through a home Wednesday morning.

"When I first heard the gunshots, I thought they came through my house," said Mike Jackson, who lives next door.

Police say bullets went through his neighbors' home smashing a bedroom window and leaving holes in the siding and porch railing.

"That's awful and scary," said Richard Weeks.

Weeks has lived in the neighborhood for 30 years. He says he's never heard of violence like this before.

"I couldn't believe that," Weeks added. "They must have some enemies or something. Why would you shoot in somebody's house?"

We tried talking to the couple Wednesday morning. They weren't home. Police say they're fine. Jackson says he knows his neighbors who have a son in his early 20s.

"Oh yeah, I'm surprised that happened," Jackson noted. "Now that I know what happened, I'm glad they're okay."

Police searched the area with a K-9 unit but didn't find the shooter. Anyone with information that could lead to an arrest can call Crime Solvers at (804) - 748-0660.
