Goochland gears up for state semifinal

Goochland, VA (WWBT)- After a two year stay in Group AA, Goochland has returned to Group A and is making the most of its season.  The Bulldogs are 13-0, two wins shy of a state championship and will take the field on Saturday in the state semifinals.

Joe Fowler's Bulldogs will host Wilson Memorial in the semifinal match up, which will take place on Goochland's home field.  The Bulldogs survived a scare in their Eastern Section finals match up with King William, which was also unbeaten entering that game.  On fourth and goal late in the fourth quarter, Goochland came away with a clutch goal line stop to seal the 16-12 victory.  The Bulldogs have averaged nearly 40 points per game.

Wilson Memorial nipped Dan River, 43-40, to earn a trip to the state semifinal match-up.  Its only losses came to R.E. Lee and Riverheads.

Kickoff is set for 2:00 pm on Saturday afternoon at Goochland.
