Food poisoning

MECHANICSVILLE, VA (WWBT) - Dr. Ruth Latham is treating food poisoning.

If you eat contaminated foods, you may experience nausea, vomiting, stomach cramping and diarrhea. These symptoms may be present 24-72 hours after exposure.

Get rid of vulnerable foods that have been sitting out in a warm environment. Wash your hands after handling these foods.

If exposed, drink plenty of fluids. Also try instant soup, crackers, toast or jello. Keep in mind,  dehydration can happen quickly in children and the elderly.
