HENRICO, VA (WWBT) – Gunshots were fired early Saturday into the house of a volunteer basketball coach now facing charges of having sex with an underage female player.

Timothy B. James, 25, of Eastern Henrico, was arrested last Tuesday, November 22, on charges of carnal knowledge of a child.

On Saturday, just after 1:00 a.m., Henrico Police responded to James' residence in the 500 block of Caryhurst Street after several vehicles were observed outside the house. Witnesses heard gunfire, and police say at least three bullets struck the house. Four people, including James, were home at the time but none were injured, according to police.

In August, Henrico Police say they responded to a Highland Springs address for a reported sex offense. Police say they discovered the now 15-year-old female victim had been having sexual intercourse with James for approximately one year. The relationship began as a result of James being a volunteer basketball coach for the victim's team, police said.

Authorities could not provide the name of the team, but say it was affiliated with a private organization and not part of the school system.

Henrico Jail records indicate James was released from custody last week "by court order" and will return to court in January.
