Accused Martin's stabber in court Tuesday

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - A man accused of stabbing a co-worker at a Henrico grocery store will face a judge Tuesday.

Police say 29-year-old Derek James stabbed another employee and then himself back in September it around 6:00 a.m.

The judge has already charged James with malicious wounding. Police say he and the female co-worker had gotten into an argument inside the store just before it opened.

They tell us James stabbed the 27-year-old with a knife several times until another co-worker chased James to the back of the store where he later stabbed himself.

Police haven't said if there was a relationship between the two. At this time, the woman's name has not been released.

The two were taken to the hospital for treatment. James remains behind bars without bond.

We'll find out more on the direction of his case in the preliminary hearing which starts at 1:30 p.m. in Henrico.
