RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Many people have been sending us messages on Facebook and Twitter asking about events happening around Thanksgiving, so we've found three you can take the whole family to!
RVA on Ice
Grab your skates and get ready... RVA on Ice is back this year! It's Richmond's only ice rink in the heart of downtown. There will be a huge opening ceremony on Wednesday.
The event starts at 6:00 p.m. and is expected to last 30 minutes. Then, the skating begins until the rink closes at 10:00 p.m.
The ice rink is located between 6th and 7th streets on East Broad.
The season runs November 23 - January 2.
If you don't have skates, there is a rental option available.
Starting Friday, you can take the kids to the Children's Museum to see the Legendary Santa!
This is the 75th year for the event. Old Saint Nick will be joined by his lovely Snow Queen and helpful elf.
Best of all -- it's free!
Santa will come down the chimney every day through Christmas Eve.
Gardenfest of Lights
The Gardenfest of Lights at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden kicks off Friday night at 5:00 p.m.
This happens rain or shine and is only closed when there's extreme weather.
You'll get to see half a million holiday lights, but you do need a ticket.
Ticket prices are as follows:
$11 - Adults
$10 - Seniors
$7 - Children, ages 3 - 12
$0 - Children, ages 3 and under
Gardenfest of Lights runs from November 25 through January 9. It's closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
