USGS confirms 2.1 magnitude quake Monday morning

LOUISA COUNTY, VA (WWBT) - The United States Geological Survey has confirmed another aftershock near Louisa County Monday morning.

This latest quake happened at 12:25 a.m., 9 miles southwest of Louisa. The aftershock had a preliminary 2.1-magnitude strength.

Monday's quake was the 5th aftershock felt since Saturday.

The first aftershock, measuring in as a 2.4-magnitude quake, happened at 3:12 p.m. Saturday, approximately 6 miles south of Louisa.

The second, a magnitude 2.3 quake, happened several hours later at 8:06 p.m., approximately 7 miles SSE of Louisa, and 5 miles SSW of Mineral.

Sunday night, a 1.8-magnitude quake happened 5 miles SSE of Louisa at 8:06 p.m. Just minutes later, a 1.9-magnitude quake was felt in the same location at 8:17 p.m.
