UPDATE: Henrico man charged in Richmond police chase

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - An investigation is underway in Richmond after a man refuses to stop for police.

30-year-old Leroy K. Maclin, of Henrico, has been arrested following a police chase Saturday night that ended with Maclin crashing his car into a parking deck.

Police tell us it all started around 10:30 p.m., when an officer on foot received word that a Chevrolet Cavalier had been seen driving dangerously in the Shockoe Slip. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle in the 1400 block of East Cary Street, but the driver continued eastbound.

Officers then observed the vehicle on Dock Street and attempted to stop it. Instead, the vehicle sped on for several blocks, then lost control in the 2300 block of Dock Street, and hit a parking structure.

Firefighters were able to remove Maclin from the vehicle and he was then taken to VCU Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Maclin has been charged with driving under the influence, driving on a revoked license and attempt to elude.

The Richmond Police Department Crash Team continues to investigate.
