Brothers leads Richmond to rout of Sacred Heart

Richmond, VA (WWBT)- The Richmond men's basketball team is warming up for Cancun quite nicely.  After rolling past Hampton, 72-51, on Thursday night, Saturday saw an even bigger victory at the Robins Center.

Darian Brothers scored 19 points and the Spiders never trailed in an 83-58 route of Sacred Heart in a Cancun Challenge match-up.  Brothers scored 17 of his points in the first half, as the Spiders jumped out to a 24-3 lead, but the Pioneers trimmed that lead to nine at halftime.  The first half ended with a bang, as Brothers heaved a shot at the buzzer from near-full court that banked off the glass and went through the basket for a thrilling end to the frame.  The second half would see Richmond lead by as many as 29 points and go on for the easy win.

Brothers was 8-for-12 from the floor during his 19 point night, while Kendall Anthony scored 18 points and found double-figures for the fourth straight game.

Richmond heads to Cancun to face Illinois on Tuesday.
