James River volleyball wins second straight state championship

Richmond, VA (WWBT)- For the second straight season, James River and head coach Terry Ford are hoisting the state championship trophy.

The Rapids secured their second consecutive Group AAA state title on Saturday afternoon with a 3-0 win over Frank Cox.  James River dominated the match from start to finish and put on a show for a solid turnout of students and fans that made their way to the Siegel Center.

The last two seasons have seen the Rapids win their only state boys volleyball titles in school history.  Last year, James River snuck by Ocean Lakes, 3-2, to claim their first crown, and this one seemed to come much smoother.  The Rapids cruised through the regular season, suffering just two losses, both to Cosby in Dominion District play.
