RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) – Friday morning, VCU Police notified staff and students of an overnight robbery that happened near the Monroe Park campus.
In a notice posted on the university's VCU Alert page, VCU Police report just before 3:00 a.m., four suspects approached a student and a non-student in the 400 block of Gilmer Street, between Clay and Marshall streets.
Anyone with information that can help police with their investigation is asked to call the VCU Police Department at 828-1234. You may also send an anonymous tip by texting "VCUTIP" to 274637.

"In compliance with the provisions of the federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus crime Statistics Act of 1988 Virginia Commonwealth University is giving notice of a robbery. VCU Police report that the four suspects approached a student and a non-student on the 400 block of Gilmer Street, between Clay and Marshall streets, off campus at approximately 2:50 a.m. One of the two suspects who approached the victims is described as a young black male, approximately 5'8 tall, wearing a grey top with a blue bandana in his pocket, displaying a black revolver. The other is described as a young black male, approximately 6 ft. tall, wearing all black clothing. The other two suspects served as look-outs, and are described as young black males. They were last seen running in opposite directions on Clay Street. VCU and Richmond Police have increased patrols in the area. Students are asked to be aware of their surroundings, report suspicious activity to police and use the campus escort service.
