Unemployed workers protest job shortages

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - A group of unemployed workers is protesting to declare an economic emergency for the 99 percent Thursday.

While they were inspired by the Occupy Wall Street movement, the group is separate.

Members of the Virginia Organizing Group will meet at the Hamilton Street Bridge to call on Congress to create more jobs, stop cuts and make Wall Street banks pay their fair share.

They blame Congress for not passing the American Jobs Act which they say could provide hundreds of millions of dollars in infrastructure funding and jobs.
