CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) - Tonight, neighbors are on edge after a string of breakins in one neighborhood in Chesterfield, during the middle of the day!
The breakins are happening in the Mason Woods subdivision, that's just off Beulah Road in Chesterfield. On Tuesday, three homes were targets.
Some of the victims tell me they think these criminals are actually casing this neighborhood, looking for the perfect opportunity to strike.
"I'm very angry! How dare they? Who are you to come into my home," asked Leah Coe.
It's a home that Leah and her family won't be living in anymore. They are moving out - tonight- for good.
"We've been violated. It's not home anymore," she added.
She's talking about the piece of plywood now nailed to the window, along with the glass still on the floor inside and the mess scattered about.
Leah says these crooks actually used the top part of their front porch light to smash through the front window.
"They broke in here and this was knocked over. We had a 47 inch flat screen TV that is no longer there. We are missing a computer, iPod. They just took random things," Leah explained.
The thieves were inside Leah's home for so long, they even went through the cabinets in her kitchen, full of food! Luckily she and her 2-year-old daughter were not home.
Just around the corner, Chesterfield Police say another victim came face to face with the people, trying to break into her home. Those suspects ran and now police are setting up patrols. Police are also sending out letters to tell people about the breakins.
In all -- three homes and several lives were violated here yesterday and police say it's likely the work of the same crooks.
"Yours is coming. You're going to get caught and when you do, that will be the day that I smile," said Leah.
