Mechanicsville, VA (WWBT)- Atlee and Lee-Davis are Capital District rivals and very familiar with each other. Both teams have qualified for the Division 5 Central Region playoffs, with Atlee as the top seed and Lee-Davis sneaking in as the number four. For the Raiders, it marks their first playoff appearance since 1998, while the Confederates are in the postseason for the first time since 1999.
Lee-Davis clinched its spot in the playoffs with a big upset win over Atlee last Friday, setting up a rematch with high stakes this week. This time, the two teams will play on the Raiders' home field, where they have yet to lose this season. Roscoe Johnson's team is 8-2 on the season, while Lee-Davis enters at 6-4, but confident after Friday's win.
Repeating that feat may be more difficult for the Confederates, as Johnson says that his team has returned to practice more focused and paying more attention to detail. The two teams will battle at 7:30 pm at Atlee, with the winner moving on to face the victor of Dinwiddie and Hanover.
