Prince George woman face-to-face with a home invader

PRINCE GEORGE, VA (WWBT) - Face to face with a home invader-- a Prince George County woman got quite a scare this afternoon when someone tried to break in, while she was home!

It happened on Lansing Road, around 12:30 Tuesday afternoon.

Brittany Myrick heard a knock at the door, "They knocked on the door like a regular person knocking on the door. Then he got back in the car so I thought he was about to leave."

What came next was a shocker. Her front door flew open.

"Then when I came down my hallway, I saw him, he saw me and took off," said Myrick.

But, Brittany got a good look at him first...

"It was a black male," she said. "He was about the age around about 20. Probably 20s. He had a gray jacket on and a white shirt. He had like a little afro and like a little mustache."

And she says he was with three other guys outside, waiting in the car in her driveway.

"I thought they was gonna come back," sighed Myrick. "When they found out I was the only person there, I thought they was going to come back."

Remarkably, this isn't the first time. Just last year Brittany tells us she was home inside the house when someone tried to break in the side door.

Brittany says she saw that person too- and that the suspect has already been arrested and charged. But, two home invasions in her rural area has her feeling mighty unlucky.

"Every time, like every time I'm at the house by myself, something always happen," said Myrick.

Myrick got a good look at the car and says it was a purplish Honda type car.

We spoke with police- they say they have had several burglaries in the county. They warn that crime does increase during the holidays, so be sure to dead bolt your home.
