Symptoms include stabbing, burning or sharp pain associated with blistering rash.
Prevention includes zoster vaccination for ages 60 and older, pain medications at onset of a rash, anticonvulsants or antidepressants.
Zoster is the reactivation of the chicken pox vaccine. Seek treatment with your doctor for a localized burning of the skin or painful rash as soon as possible for the best treatment outcome.
