COLONIAL HEIGHTS, VA (WWBT) - Dr. James Bush is treating diabetic retinopathy.
Retinopathy occurs when there is damage to the eye, which causes damage to the arteries of the retina.
The main factors contributing to retinopathy are poor blood sugar control, uncontrolled high blood pressure, length of time with diabetes and family history.
You can keep it in check by maintaining good blood sugar control, keep blood pressure controlled and have your eyes examined regularly.
