Louisa voters approve new meal tax

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - In a close vote in Louisa, voters approved a new meal tax to raise money to repair public schools damaged by the August earthquake.

About 50 percent voted yes for the four percent tax on food and beverages in restaurants and about 49 percent voted no.

This will not apply to restaurants in the towns of Mineral or Louisa.
