Greater Richmond ARC
For the fifth year, The Greater Richmond ARC is assembling "goodie bags" for the SunTrust Richmond Marathon participants that includes promotional items. About 19,000 bags will be filled at ARC's Industrial Services production facility at 1901 Westwood Avenue and distributed in the days just before the race. Founded in 1954, The Greater Richmond ARC's mission is to create life-fulfilling opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. ARC's Industrial Services program provides meaningful work opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities which fosters confidence and the self-esteem that comes with earning a paycheck; particularly important nowadays when the unemployment rate for individuals with disabilities is significantly higher than for those without.
