Meals tax referendum to help Louisa schools

LOUISA, VA (WWBT) - Voters in Louisa County will consider adding a meals tax to bring in more money to repair their public schools damaged in the August earthquake.

Today's referendum asks voters if they support a "4 percent" tax on food and beverages sold in restaurants.

This will not apply to restaurants in the towns of Mineral or Louisa.

According to NBC29, in Charlottesville, voters voted against a previously proposed meals tax in 2006.
