RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Sheriff's deputies are suing Sheriff C.T. Woody over unpaid overtime.
That's on top of hundreds of Richmond police officers already suing the city for the same thing.
A hearing is underway this morning in federal court in Judge Henry Hudson's chambers to get an update on the police lawsuit.
Hudson asked both sides to meet and try to work out the pay dispute.
The lawsuit against the sheriff's office was filed this week.
This, as the police lawsuit alleges Richmond is not complying with a 2005 state law that says law enforcement should be paid time and a half for every hour worked after 160 hours in a 28 day pay period.
That law was proposed by now Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli.
We'll have much more on this breaking story this afternoon on NBC12.
