RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - The VCU Rams took the court for the first time post-Final Four Thursday night. At the same time, one of the players that helped them make it to Houston was finding out the next step in his career as a professional.
Highland Springs product Brandon Rozzell was taken in the fourth round of the NBA Developmental League draft by the Los Angeles D-Fenders. Rozzell had held off leaving Richmond to play professionally overseas. In the meantime, he had planned to play for the Richmond Elite of the ABA, coached by his high school coach George Lancaster.
Rozzell is third all-time in VCU history in made three-pointers, with 193.
Former UVA Cavalier Mustapha Farrakhan was also taken in the NBDL draft, by the Bakersfield Jam with the 13th overall pick.
