RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Full Kee Restaurant at 6400 Horsepen Road in Henrico often appears on lists of favorite restaurants. But it had 4 critical violations on its recent state health inspection.

The inspector noted noodles, egg rolls and black bean sauce in a refrigerator were not cold enough. That's a problem because foods not stored cold enough can grow bacteria.

We tried to reach the manager, but did not hear back.

The state reports say Full Kee had the fridge repaired, but it still wasn't cold enough on a follow-up inspection. They got a new refrigerator and the restaurant earned a perfect score on a second follow-up inspection.

Moving to Chesterfield, Subway at 4533 Commonwealth Centre Parkway had 4 critical violations, including that the meatballs were not reheated to 165 degrees within two hours. That can create the same risk for bacteria growth. Violations were corrected on the spot, and the restaurant had zero critical on a check-up four days later.

How long food is kept warm is important, too. In Henrico, CiCi's Pizza at 4360 South Laburnum avenue had 5 critical violations. The report says a time control policy for pizzas on the hot line was not established. Pizza's can only be kept hot for 4 hours. CiCi's had everything fixed by a re-inspection a week later. We contacted a CiCi's spokesperson but did receive comment.

The folks at Bruster's Real Ice Cream should "treat themselves," just like their logo says. The joint operation of Bruster's and Nathan's Hot Dogs wins this week's NBC12 Hall of Fame Award for five perfect inspection scores in a row.

Check out some new restaurants: Carytown Bistro has opened on West Cary Street and Raising Cane has opened at Grace and Laurel Streets.
