Plane carrying NASCAR owner crash lands

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - A scary plane landing ended in a crash involving one of NASCAR's top owners.

Rick Hendrick, his wife and two pilots were on board. All of them were taken to a hospital.

The Hendricks are said to have minor injuries.

Deputies say the pilots reported having no brakes when trying to land in Key West, Florida.

The jet ran off the runway during the landing and tipped onto the left wing.

The plane is registered to Jimmie Johnson Racing — Johnson is one of the all star drivers on Rick Hendrick's team.

That roster also includes drivers Jeff Gordon and Dale Earnhardt, Junior.

Back in 2004, a plane Hendrick owned crashed on its way to a race in Martinsville, killing all ten onboard.

The National Transportation Safety Board will be investigating this latest crash.
