UPDATE: I-95 Laburnum Bridge project postponed

UPDATE: 1:50 p.m. Saturday

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - VDOT has announced the Laburnum Bridge replacement work scheduled to begin Saturday night, has been postponed to next weekend due to the weather.

The bridge adhesion materials can't be used on wet surfaces or when the temperatures is below 40 degrees.

VDOT says, the left and center lanes on I-95 south will close Sunday night so that crews can modify the temporary grid deck that was installed after last weekend's bridge section replacement.

VDOT has released a revised construction schedule, which you can view below:

Oct. 30 (Sunday)

I-95 south at Laburnum Ave. (exit 79) – The left and center lanes will be closed at the Laburnum Avenue bridge on I-95 south from 8 p.m. Sunday through 6 a.m. Monday to allow the contractor to make modifications to the temporary grid deck installed last weekend. Drivers will merge to one lane. Expect delays. 

Oct. 31 (Monday)

I-95 north – The right lane will be closed on I-95 north between Boulevard (exit 78) and Lakeside Ave./Hermitage Rd. (exit 80) from 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. for bridge work. Expect delays.

Nov. 1 (Tuesday)

I-95 north – The right lane will be closed on I-95 north between Boulevard (exit 78) and Lakeside Ave./Hermitage Rd. (exit 80) from 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. for bridge work. Expect delays.

Nov. 4 (Friday) – Nov. 7 (Monday)

I-95 north/south at Laburnum Ave. (exit 79) – Starting at 8 p.m. Nov. 4 (Friday) through 6 a.m. Nov. 7 (Monday), both I-95 north and south will have one travel lane in each direction to allow the contractor to continue replacing sections of the Laburnum Avenue bridge. Expect major delays along I-95. Use I-295, Route 288 and the Downtown Expressway (toll)/I-195 to bypass the construction.

 


 

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) – VDOT has announced a small delay with the I-95 Laburnum Bridge replacement project.

Because of wet weather, crews will not be working Friday night. Instead, the project will continue Saturday afternoon.

Once the project starts, one lane will be open in both directions on I-95 until 6:00 a.m. Monday.

The bridge replacement project started last weekend.
