Search continues for Robert Wood, Jr.

HANOVER, VA (WWBT) - Thursday morning, the Hanover County Sheriff's Office updated the public on the ongoing efforts to find a missing eight-year-old boy.

Robert Wood, Jr. was last seen Sunday afternoon at the North Anna Battlefield Park.

During the media briefing, Captain Mike Trice continued to stress that this is still a rescue mission and that it's the belief of the Hanover County Sheriff's Department that Robert is still alive.

Trice also stressed the need for volunteers. So far, hundreds have turned out to assist crews in looking for Robert. Many of you have asked if there is an age limit. Trice confirmed in Thursday morning's media briefing that volunteers must be at least 18-years-old.

According to Trice, Wednesday's goal of 1,200 volunteers was not met, but several volunteers that did show up, completed two or three searches.

Efforts to find Robert continue today. We'll continue to provide updates on the search on NBC12 on-air and online.
