HANOVER COUNTY, VA (WWBT) - Friends and family of the missing 8-year-old boy with autism are still hoping for his safe return.
Robbie Wood Jr. went missing Sunday afternoon in the North Anna Battlefield Park.
Wednesday, police will be counting on more volunteers to help search for Robbie.
Police tell NBC12 dozens of volunteers searched through the woods at night, something they haven't' done yet because of the rough terrain.
Volunteers and trained professionals will begin another day of scouring the woods to look for little Robbie again. People who didn't get a chance to register Tuesday can do so Wednesday.
Tuesday, more than 900 volunteers registered at Kings Dominion and they entered the woods with several hundred other trained professionals. That allowed them to expand their search to a larger land mass than before. Even with the help of blood hounds, aircrafts and other search experts, they still came up empty handed.
Sheriff's deputies are asking volunteers for more help Wednesday. People can still show up at Kings Dominion at 9:00 a.m. to register to volunteer. At that same time, deputies say they are also planning on meeting again to discuss a game plan for Wednesday.
They could possibly discuss a different strategy on how they're mapping out the search.
