Volunteers needed in search for missing boy

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - We are entering the 39th hour — and there is still no sign of Robbie Wood Jr.

Police and officers have searched acres and acres of land near the North Anna Battlefield Park and have come up empty handed.

Since Robbie has autism, authorities didn't want to run him off while searching. They used items he likes, like water bottles and candy bars, to try and get his attention. They've had no luck so far.

The public has been adamant about helping out — now you can.

Those who want to volunteer can meet up at the King's Dominion parking lot at 9 a.m. this morning. Bring a photo I.D.

This will be a rigorous search, so you must be able to walk roughly five miles.

Make sure to wear the right clothes and shoes for searching through thick brush.

We'll continue to keep you updated here and online throughout the morning on any developments on the search.
