Police still search for missing child in Hanover County - NBC12 - WWBT - Richmond, VA News On Your Side

Update: still no sign of child, search details released

HANOVER COUNTY, VA (WWBT) - Police have assembled over 100 trained professionals to help with the search of a missing Hanover County boy.

Another 40-50 will soon join in and they will be separated into three separate groups to continue the search.

They are currently performing a 400-500 yard grid search with eight grid corridors.

The searchers were briefed by an autism expert. 8-year-old Robbie Wood Junior is autistic and doesn't talk.

He walked away from his family around 2:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon at North Anna Battlefield Park.

The Hanover County Sheriff says this particular search is unique since he barely speaks.

Volunteers have called from as far away as Maryland and North Carolina, but police are asking for patience while their professional crews perform their search.

Virginia State Police has their bloodhound and aviation teams searching the river between Caroline and Hanover - so far no leads have been found.

Hanover authorities would like anyone who was at the park Sunday that could possibly have details that would aid in the search to call the Hanover County Sheriff's Office at 365-6140
