Fundraiser for injured teen

GLEN ALLEN, VA (WWBT) - Hundreds of people gathered in Glen Allen today to raise money for an injured Hanover teenager.

Friends of Atlee High School student, Cole Sydnor, organized a golf tournament today.

Sydnor was injured during a freak accident on the James River this summer and is now paralyzed from the chest down. He's now in a rehab facility in Atlanta.

Cole's father came home for the first time today to attend the tournament. He says his family has been "blown away" by the support from the Hanover community.

"It's humbling and overwhelming. I told someone after this, I will never leave Hanover and it's just been a unique experience, unfortunately under tragic circumstances with my son Cole, but through it all there's been so much support," said Clement Sydnor.

Cole's friends have raised more than $12,000 to help his family pay for his medical bills and to make his home handicap accessible.
