CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA. (AP) - For the second straight year, UVA followed up an extremely impressive victory with a hard to swallow loss.
Mike Glennon threw for three touchdowns and David Amerson intercepted two passes as North Carolina State defeated Virginia 28-14 on Saturday.
Glennon completed touchdown passes of 33 yards and 79 yards to Bryan Underwood, and 5 yards to Tony Creecy. Underwood's first touchdown came two plays after the first interception by Amerson, who leads the Football Bowl Subdivision with eight picks.
Amerson returned the second interception for the clinching touchdown in the fourth quarter.
Virginia freshman quarterback David Watford completed a 60-yard touchdown pass to Tim Smith but was intercepted three times.
The Wolfpack (4-3, 1-2 Atlantic Coast Conference) drove 70 yards for their first touchdown immediately after Virginia (4-3, 1-2) marched 72 yards to take a 7-0 lead on Michael Rocco's 5-yard TD pass to Clifton Richardson.
Last week, the Hokies looked extremely impressive in knocking off highly-ranked Georgia Tech. Last year, UVA beat ranked Miami, and then fell at Duke the following week.
