CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) - A house that families in one Chesterfield neighborhood called an eye-sore following a deadly fire has been demolished.
The house on Wrens Nest Road off Robious was leveled as part of a court order.
A woman and her son died in a fire just days before Christmas last year.
Just this week, the owner of a local construction company bought the house and plans to rebuild.
Matt Bowles, with MBI Construction, said his bulldozer was a welcome sight for neighbors.
"It's sad all the way around but we'd like to bring some closure to the family and the community," said Bowles.
Bowles is trying to save the chimney. He hopes to have a new two story home built on the property by January.
