RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - We have a traffic alert for anyone driving this weekend on I-95.
VDOT is shutting down a busy part of the interstate in Richmond.
Starting Friday night, the I-95 bridge over Laburnum Avenue will be limited to one lane only.
It will remain closed from 8 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Monday.
Expect delays this weekend and next weekend along the bridge — traffic could be backed up as far as the Bryan Park interchange.
It's part of VDOT's $106 million project to fix 11 of the city's bridges along I-95.
Even though people would like to see roads fixed and potholes filled, VDOT says these bridges are more than 50 years old and they need fixing now.
VDOT expects all 11 bridge projects to take three years to complete.
