Dept. of Education will take up appeal

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT)- The Department of Education will take up Virginia Tech's appeal of fines in December.

Those fines are related to the 2007 shooting rampage where a student killed 32 students and faculty.

The agency found Tech violated a federal campus safety law when they waited to send out a campus wide warning.

The hearing will be held December 7 through the 9.

Several survivors and victims' family members plan to testify.
