RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Five Richmond City council members are hoping to stop a deal with the Richmond Metropolitan Authority to refinance the Downtown Expressway.
The RMA will hold a meeting Tuesday on this issue.
Following Monday's 5 to 3 vote, council members will now send a letter to the RMA asking the board to delay refinancing.
The deal, being pushed by Mayor Dwight Jones, would give the city an extra $60 million.
But some council member have questioned the need to re-finance, and want to study all the best options for the toll road.
The ultimate decision to re-finance now rests in the hands of the RMA board.
