Chesterfield man accused of soliciting teenager for "indecent act"

CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) – A Chesterfield man is behind bars, facing a charge of attempted indecent liberties with a minor.

Walter Robertson, III, 24, of Playground Drive, was arrested Thursday following an incident that police say took place August 13.

That day, a Saturday, authorities say a male, 13, was riding his bike on Lee Street in Chester. Police say Robertson, in his car, then approached the teenager and make a sexual comment requesting an "indecent act." The child then rode away, as did Robertson, according to police. The two had never met before, police say.

The teen was able to provide a description of Robertson and his vehicle, which led to last week's arrest, police say.

"Just as this child did, if somebody says something off base, they need to get away from them as quickly as possible and contact an adult," said Chesterfield Police Lt. Randy Horowitz.

Robertson is being held at the Riverside Regional Jail without bond. A man who answered the door at Robertson's address declined to comment.
