Expect significant delays along I-95 Friday morning

CHESTERFIELD, VA - Repair crews will be stopping the right lane of southbound I-95 for brief periods Friday morning to perform emergency road repairs at mile marker 62 near the Route 288 interchange. This will continue thru 9:00 am.

This work is in the same area as a paving project from mile marker 62 to 59 where the right and center lanes are closed. This work zone is expected to also continue thru the morning. Traffic is currently backed up four miles.

The ramp to Route 10 (exit 61) from I-95 south is closed due to an accident. Also, the left and center lanes are closed on I-95 north at exit 61 due to an accident.

Major delays in both directions. VDOT strongly encourages drivers to use alternate routes if possible. Expect Route 1 to be heavily congested due to the accident and work zone delays.

Farther north on I-95 in Richmond, the left and center lanes have re-opened between Parham Road (exit 83) and the I-64/Bryan Park interchange (exit 79). Two lanes were closed through the morning rush hour due to a paving equipment breakdown in the center lane.

Local traffic is strongly encouraged to use Route 1 (Brook Road) or Route 301 (Chamberlayne) south to bypass the work zone. I-95 south thru traffic is encouraged to use I-295 south.
